Steven Ma: Consultant Emeritus
Education: College Admission Consultant Certificate - UC Berkeley | B.A. in Math and Physics - UC Berkeley

As a head admission consultant at ThinkTank Learning for the past four years, Steven has helped hundred of students getting into their dream schools. Aside from meeting with students and parents, Steven spends much time outreaching to the community. Steven also hosts an educational radio program in FM96.1 and lectures in various local seminars. In his free time, Steven enjoys reading biographies and learning to fly.

David Brothers: Senior Consultant
Education: College Admission Consulting & Career Planning Certificate- UC Berkeley | B.A. in Physics - UC Berkeley

Throughout his life David has been involved with education and helping kids discover and achieve their goals. As a member of ThinkTank Learning's education consulting team, David specializes in pre-admission planning and coaching for middle and high school students. David holds educational seminars and teaches college planning courses for ThinkTank Learning on a regular basis. In addition to working with ThinkTank Learning, David also routinely works at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory particle accelerator, the Advanced Light Source.

Eddie LaMeire: Head Consultant
Education: M.A. in Public Affairs - San Diego State University | B.A. in Philosophy and English Writing - Loyola University

Eddie has worked in higher education and college admissions for nearly a decade, and has loved every minute of it. After graduating from college, Eddie recruited and evaluated students for Loyola in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, where he read upward of 600 essays and applications per year. Eddie also has worked as an application and essay evaluator in the UCSD Office of Admissions - a position where he was able to develop an "Insider's view" on what the University of California looks for in an applicant.

Daniel Chun: Education Consultant
Education: B.A in English - UCLA

Daniel has always held a passion for helping students in need. Having had no one to guide him through the college admissions process, Daniel understands what a challenging time it can be for both students and parents. He received his B.A. in English from UCLA and spent his post-undergraduate experience teaching and guiding students through the college admissions process. He has also spent much of his time tutoring and helping students in English and Mathematics. In his free time, Daniel enjoys reading, watching movies, and rock climbing.

Albert Yu: Interview Consultant
Education: B.A. in Hotel Management - Cornell University

Albert is the current admissions interview officer at Cornell University. He is an expert on chooseing and analyzing extracurricular activities that catch the eyes of admission officers at ivy leagues. Albert has also tutored students, as young as 3rd grade, to college students.

Chris Yang: Education Consultant
Education: B.S. in Management Science - UC San Diego

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Chris has had to discern the entire public and private application process alone. He fully understands the stressful situation students are in and by drawing on his personal experiences, he is able to help guide them through the complicated process of college admissions.

Marian You: Education Consultant
Education: M.A. in Clinical Psychology - Azusa Pacific University | B.A. in International Studies - Renmin (People's) University of China

Marian earned her master's degree in psychology, and worked as a counselor in the Pomona School District and an instructor at the Center for Talented Youth with John Hopkins University prior to joining ThinkTank. Through her rigorous educational training, and professional experiences in HR and legal fields, she has developed strong analytical abilities and interviewing skills. She has extensive college admission knowledge and loves to pass her knowledge to students and help them to achieve their dreams in life.

Diana Dorel: Essay Consultant
Education: B.S. in Speech Communication/Theatre with minor in Hispanic Studies - Northwestern University

Diana came is a freelance reporter from San Francisco. She is also a professional actress, singer, and dancer. She is currently a certified high school English teacher in San Jose. She writes for a non-profit organization "Streetside Stories".

Gabriel Constans: Essay Consultant

Gabriel has over 30 years of consulting expertise. He has helped countless students on writing and editing. His stories, reports, and writing has been published on numerous magazines, newspapers, and periodicals across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Gabriel published 10 books in America alone. His novel Buddha's Wife was recently released by Robert D. Reed Publishers. His recent writing "Stellina Blue" has been made into a movie by L.A.'s Fly High Films Studio.

Jack Gan: Education Consultant

As a former researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and software engineer, Jack knows what students will be up against in college and after college. He offers guidance to students who are interested in science and engineering to ensure they choose the right extra curricular activities that both build their professional knowledge and look good to selective universities, thereby increasing their chance of admissions to top universities.

Tria Chang: AIOP Consultant
Education: B.A. in Professional Writing and Communication Design - Carnegie Mellon University

Tria began teaching in 2000. Since then, she has been an instructor in after-school programs in D.C. and Pittsburgh, taught English in Japan, and privately tutored in Palo Alto. Most recently she also worked as an essay and interview consultant at ThinkTank. Tria obtained her Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing & Communication Design at Carnegie Mellon University, where she worked as a certified tutor in the school's Academic Development department, tutoring her peers in writing and English. Currently she serves as an alumni interviewer for CMU.

Chris Chen: Essay Consultant

Chris was born, raised, and schooled in the Bay Area. He attended Lowell, U.C. Berkeley, and San Francisco State University, where he received a Masters in English and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing. Chris is an award-winning playwright, with plays produced nationally and internationally, translated into multiple languages. He has worked as an English tutor and essay consultant for undergraduate and graduate students, and is currently teaching a course on playwriting at Pacific Union College.

Gene Hwang: Education Consultant
Education: B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology - UC Berkeley

Gene earned his B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology at UC Berkeley. During his undergraduate studies, he discovered a passion for education, an interest that led to two years as an immunization health educator at the California Department of Public Health and three years as an HIV prevention and test counselor at the Berkeley Free Clinic. Additionally, Gene has been a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) instructor and tutor, teaching Biology, Verbal Reasoning, and Essay Writing for more than two years. As Academic Consultant and English Instructor at ThinkTank's Shenzhen, China, office, Gene will help students achieve their goal of attending a renowned U.S. college.

Jess Grainger: Essay Consultant
Education: M.A. in Social Studies (Honors) - Columbia University | B.A. in Sociology - UC Berkeley

Jess grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, attended college at U.C. Berkeley, and earned a Masters in Education at Columbia University in 2007. He has worked as an educator teaching a variety of subjects, including World History, Literature, and Creative Writing. Jess realizes what a trying process college applications can be, and aims to help students make it as painless and enjoyable as possible. Jess has taught both middle school and high school, lives in San Francisco, and prides himself on assisting students with applications that both are effective and represent who they are personally. He enjoys live jazz, rap, and 19th century British novels.

Mark Carpenter: Essay Consultant

Mark Carpenter earned his Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Southern California in 2002 and his Master of Arts and certificate in teaching English composition from San Francisco State University in 2008. He has been working in education since 2002 and has taught English from the preschool to university level. He enjoys writing short fiction and has worked in an editorial capacity at San Francisco State University's journal of creative writing, Fourteen Hills and an independent publication, Satellite Fiction. Mark currently teaches English and test preparation at ThinkTank Learning Center and works with below grade level students at Menlo-Atherton High School.

David Saenz: AIOP Consultant
Education: B.A. in History - California State University, East Bay

David Saenz graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History with a United States focus from California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). While he was a student, he was awarded the F. Dan Gilliard scholarship for work in Historiography and was nominated and received the Dean's List award for excellence in History. After graduation, David worked for CSUEB's Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA). At the SCAA, he worked with undergraduate and graduate students who had diverse backgrounds and strengths in writing and the English language. There, he assisted in helping students master almost every form of academic writing, from argumentative essays to Master's research papers. Recently, he left SCAA and began work with Think Tank Learning as an English tutor, SAT instructor, and college application essay consultant.

Priscilla Mena: Essay Consultant
Education: B.A. in Comparative Literature - UC Berkeley

Priscilla graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Comparative Literature. She has worked with high school and college students in order to pursue their goals of transferring into a university, and has also been a student speaker for UC Berkeleyˇs transfer program. She plans to pursue a Masterˇs in education, and she also tutors Spanish and English. She enjoys cooking and gardening in her free time.
