Anjali recently graduated from law school, where she attended the University of California, Berkeley Law School after transferring from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Prior to law school, Anjali attended New York University where she earned her Masters of Public Administration and Miami University (OH) where she earned her Bachelors in Philosophy. Anjali has also worked at the San Francisco District Attorney's office, law firms and nonprofit organizations in New York City and Washington D.C. She has extensive tutoring experience with all ages of students, and enjoys not only helping her students achieve their academic goals but also mentoring high school students and assisting them in the college admissions process. Anjali is fluent in Kannada and Spanish, and is admitted to the California State Bar.

Katherine Carpenter: Academic Counselor
B.A. in Broadcast Journalism - University of Southern California

Katherine Carpenter is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in broadcast journalism, as well as a minor in music industry. She looks forward to working with motivated students who need help in english, as well as speech and debate. Her background is in radio and advertising, as well as public speaking at fundraisers. During summers Katherine directs camps and leadership programs for teens with diabetes, and her hobbies include horseback riding and watching movies with her husband and their cat, Handsome Pete.

Azure Brown: Academic Counselor

Azure holds a Bachelorˇs Degree in American Literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz and an English teaching credential from San Jose State University. She has taught English classes for more than ten years. Her previous experience in high school education includes writing language arts curriculum, acting as department chair, and serving as assistant principal. Azureˇs resume also includes editing a California lobbyist publication and managing a retail business. She especially enjoys supporting students in meeting their education and career goals. She has been a teacher and tutor at Think Tank since the fall of 2008.

Elton Lin: Academic Counselor

B.S. in Civil Engineering - UC Davis

Elton graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering from UC Davis and worked for three years as an environmental engineer in San Francisco. After which, he completed a Master's degree in Christian theology and philosophy and has over ten years of experience serving as both a lead pastor and a youth minister in local churches. Elton believes deeply in the limitless potential of students and is passionate about developing their natural abilities. He has a wealth of experience tutoring, teaching and mentoring students and understands the college application process well. Elton is also currently co-founding a social enterprise designing baby blankets that are made by untouchable caste women in India.

Valerie Zhang: Academic Counselor

Valerie graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in China and as a Chemical Engineering for 2 years. She then moved onto receive a B.A. in Japanese Literature from UC Berkeley, followed by a M.A. in East Asian Studies from UCLA. Up through 2004, she was in the career development office at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, working with the students there. Following this experience, she joined ThinkTank Learning to continue her passion of mentorship with a younger demographic. As an academic counselor she is looking forward working with each of our students realize the value of the time they have left and assist them in determining and pursuing their dreams.

Nina Yuen: Academic Counselor

Nina received her B.A. in psychology and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Her interest is to be able to help student find a healthy balance between school and social life. Working as a school-based therapist for a non-profit organization in Southern California, she has mastered assessing the main causes of studentˇs academic problems. Nina also has previous experience tutoring student in Algebra, Biology, History and SAT. During her free time, she enjoys dining out at trendy restaurants.

Having attended and taught for ten years at a liberal arts college, a UC, and an Ivy League, Melody understands how to help students choose which kind of university is best suited for them and what it takes to succeed at each institution. For her teaching, Melody has received the Penn Prize for Excellence in Teaching. She was also awarded the Critical Writing Teaching Fellowship to teach writing seminars for freshman at UPenn, and UPenn's Center for Teaching and Learning's Graduate Fellowship for Teaching Excellence to create and facilitate teaching workshops for faculty and graduate students. Her passion is teaching and mentoring students to develop their potential and confidence and to help them succeed in their pursuits.

Arcy received her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and worked as a Language Arts teacher for seven years in Oakland and Sacramento. During winter and summer breaks, she volunteers as a leadership counselor for the Bay Area Youth Coalition. Arcy works with students to understand their personal strengths and encourages them to pursue their goals with confidence. She truly loves seeing students find their "aha" moment when they find their passion. In her free time, she enjoys throwing themed parties/dinners for family and friends.

Andrew served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in China, teaching English to university students in the city of Chongqing, before receiving his MPA from the University of Washington in June 2011. Most recently he has worked as an SAT instructor, ESL teacher, and advisor for international students from middle school to high school. Andrew enjoys helping students realize their potential, and he brings to ThinkTank Learning a philosophy of guidance and friendship that leads to improved performance. He is skilled in strategic planning and organizational management, and has a passion for higher education. In his spare time, Andrew runs marathons, swims, paints, reads, and plays the trumpet.

After receiving her Ph.D. in Economics, Amy worked as a visiting professor at Truman State University and later a full-time lecturer at California Polytechnic State University. She loves working with students and feels extremely fulfilling to see how her professional skills help them achieve their academic goals.

Nancy Le: Admissions Consultant

Nancy earned her master's degree in counseling education. She realized her desire to work with youth after teaching at a Vietnamese school in her hometown. Nancy has worked with disadvantaged students from diverse backgrounds and wants to inspire young minds to reach beyond their potential. On her free time, she enjoys cooking, tasting ethnic cuisine, running, and tackling new hiking trails. She also makes time to visit her family in Sacramento.

Daniel Chun: Senior Admissions Consultant

Daniel holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from UCLA - where he discovered his passion for education. Upon graduation, he immediately began working with students to help improve their SAT scores, essays and college applications. As someone who has experienced the challenges presented by college admissions, Daniel finds it rewarding and fulfilling to be able to assist current students through the turbulent process. In his free time, Daniel enjoys reading the Economist, playing competitive basketball, and spending time with his family.

Tuyen Caohuu: Academic Counselor & Admissions Consultant

As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, Tuyen was a two-sport athlete, President of the Asian American Association and a Chancellor's Scholar, serving on the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship candidate selection board. After graduating, Tuyen spent three years at the Falk Cardiovascular Research Center at the Stanford University School of Medicine, studying heart transplantation and publishing several papers on gene expression profiling and non-invasive rejection surveillance. Currently, he is the Chief Operations Officer at a biotech startup providing clinical trial design and management consultation.

Albert Yu: Interview Consultant

Albert is the current admissions interview officer at Cornell University. He is an expert on chooseing and analyzing extracurricular activities that catch the eyes of admission officers at ivy leagues. Albert has also tutored students, as young as 3rd grade, to college students.

Gene Hwang: Education Consultant
B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology - UC Berkeley

Gene earned his B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology at UC Berkeley. During his undergraduate studies, he discovered a passion for education, an interest that led to two years as an immunization health educator at the California Department of Public Health and three years as an HIV prevention and test counselor at the Berkeley Free Clinic. Additionally, Gene has been a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) instructor and tutor, teaching Biology, Verbal Reasoning, and Essay Writing for more than two years. As Academic Consultant and English Instructor at ThinkTank's Shenzhen, China, office, Gene will help students achieve their goal of attending a renowned U.S. college.
