Junior Physician Q & A
1. What is the Junior Physician Summer Camp about?
The Junior Physician program is designed to let your child be one step ahead
of their peers in preparing for a career in the medical field. Pursuing a
competitive medical career requires a strong foundation in science. With
ThinkTank Learning's Jr. Physician program, we offer a curriculum dedicated to
solidifying your child's foundation in science by teaching introductory lessons
in Chemistry and Biology. Each week, our program offers both chemistry and
biology lectures, along with fun labs where students may gain first hand
experience in the world of science. In addition, we offer many activities such
as basic CPR training, field trips to the local hospital, and guest appearances
from doctors and medical students. This program offers an innovative and
exciting way to explore the medical field!

6. Why should my kid sign up for this program rather than the other
classes?
This course not only contains lessons essential to pursuing a medical career,
but it is also a great preview of future high school courses. Students also gain
access to professional consulting, which will help to maximize their
opportunities.
7. How will this program benefit my child?
It takes a strong will and desire to advance in the medical field. Therefore
this program is designed to help garner interest and to show students what it
takes to make it in the field. Many parents hope their children will choose a
medical profession due to the promise of a prestigious and rewarding career.
However, what many concerned parents do not realize is that becoming a doctor is
often an empty word and an intangible dream to a teenage child. Worse yet, some
children who are coerced by their parents to pursue this field have no intrinsic
motivation which causes them to quit later and end up in a dilemma. Your
children will be inspired by the eye-opening curriculum and breathtaking labs,
which will reinforce their passion and determination in the pursuit of the
medical field.
8. Is it safe for my child to attend the field trips?
Of course. We will have parent chaperones.
9. What will my child learn from this program?
The breadth of this program covers five major subjects: Fundamental English
Writing Skills, Speech and Communication, Biology, Chemistry, and Miscellaneous
Lessons such as EMT basic skills, CPR training, nutrition, drugs, and much more.
10. How many lab experiments are there?
There will be lab experiments everyday!
11. Do you also offer lunch?
Per parent's request, we can purchase fresh and healthy food at local
restaurants such as Subway and Togo's on a daily basis at an additional cost.
12. How much does the lunch box cost?
A combo meal with both food and drink will cost $7. Please refer to our daily
food menu for more details.
13. Will homework be given?
Yes, students are required to complete their homework by the assigned
deadline. The workload will depend on the amount of class work completed and the
pace of the students' academic progress.
14. Are there any exams?
Yes, but the length and duration of the tests will be open to discussion.
15. Which book will you use for the class?
We will use our own copyrighted curriculum, which TTLearning has invested a
huge amount of time and resources into creating. The curriculum covers basic
sciences for the first 3 weeks. In the next 3 weeks, the main body systems and
how basic sciences relate to health sciences will be covered. The main
curriculum designers, Christina (Pharmacist grad student) and Randy (Medical
grad student), both understand what it takes to pursue a medical career, and
that is translated into the curriculum notes.
16. Is that the final fee?
Yes, the fee is final. There is no additional material or registration fee.
17. What would the consultation provide?
Consulting normally costs $150/hour but with the inclusion of consulting into
the program, students can gain professional advice on what actions to take in
high school and how to gear their academic path toward the medical field.
18. The teacher backgrounds:
All of our instructors have at least a Bachelor's degree. Some even have
advanced degrees and teaching credentials. Their knowledge is certified by
ThinkTank, given that they scored high marks in our subject assessment tests and
teaching skills test during the selection process. To ensure teaching quality,
they must consistently prove their expertise through positive feedback from both
parents and students.
19. Location?
Cupertino
21040 Homestead Rd. Suite #205, Cupertino, CA 95014
Fremont
43625 Mission Blvd. Suite 207, Fremont, CA 94539
20. How many students will there be per class?
There will be 10-15 students. We will accept no additional students once the
maximum classroom capacity is reached.
21. Detailed time schedule
Please refer to the curriculum sample.
22. Will there be a certificate provided at the end of the program?
Since we are not an accredited institution, we do not offer transferable
credit or certification. However, we do offer our own certificate as a means of
motivation and encouragement, which also serves as proof of an extracurricular
activity per their school's request.
23. Insurance?
We will require parents to fill out release forms so that we may take their
children on field trips.
24. Why is the program so expensive?
Students are educated in a supervised environment for more than 8 hours a day
which results in an actual cost of less than $16 per hour. In order to provide
the best learning experience, we will hire medical professionals such as an EMT
technician and CPR specialist, UC Berkeley Certified Consultant, and actual
physicians, which cost hundreds of dollars per hour. To ensure the quality and
authenticity of our students' hands-on learning, we purchase only the finest lab
specimen, equipment, and learning materials, etc. The experience and knowledge
your child will gain from the Jr. Physician summer camp will be worth every
penny.
25. Guest Speaker
There will be at least one guest speaker who most likely will be either a
doctor or a current medical student. Prior to the guest appearance, the class
will prepare questions to ask the speaker.
